Hi! Welcome to the Worms Like to Wiggle webpage. I am the author
Betsy Peters. I recently moved from Richmond, VA where I taught kindergarden
through second grade students with developmental delays for two years
and 3rd- 5th grade students with emotional disabilities to Chattanooga,
TN to pursue my dream job teaching preschool reverse inclusion. I am
proud to say that I now work at Siskin
Children’s Institute. They are a thought leader in children’s
education and on the cutting edge of research. There is no doubt that
Siskin Children’s
Institute is a model for best practice in Early Childhood Education.
Now, I am lucky enough to have the most wonderful group of three year
olds in and out of this world! No bias here, I promise!
I graduated from College of Charleston in South Carolina in 2004 with
a degree in Special Education with a concentration in emotional disturbance
and learning disabilities. Currently, I am pursuing my masters in Early
Childhood Special Education and a certificate in Autism at Virginia
Commonwealth University.
I have always had a passion for working with children and LOVE what
I do. Both working with children and obtaining my masters has sparked
my interest in children’s literature. In writing Worms Like
to Wiggle, I have been able to combine my interests in early literacy
experiences in children, curriculum design and implementation, and web
design. Although exploring many new interests, never far from my mind
is the practicality of being a teacher. I am constantly searching out
materials and activities that relate to the Standards of Learning and
writing lesson plans to correspond. It occurred to me that other teachers
are doing the same thing. Then I thought to myself wouldn’t it
be great to pick up a book that already has lesson plans with it? That
was my charge when I set out writing Worms Like to Wiggle. On
this website you will find the lesson plans that connect Worms Like
to Wiggle to the Virginia Foundation Blocks for Early Competencies in
4 year-olds.
In the course of publishing Worms Like to Wiggle, I opened my
own company to promote the book. Through the company, Curriculum
Enrichment Publications LLC, I intend to create more curriculum
materials that correspond to Standards of Learning and The Virginia
Foundation Blocks. Now, I am working to align Worms Like to Wiggle with
the TN Early Childhood standards.

Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Lindsey Blake Yerbey. I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to art. I guess I've been an artist for all my life as my parents can definatly attest to.
Where did I get started as a 'professional artist' you ask? Well, as a senior at Girls' Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2000 I went to see the new movie Toy Story, as did most of America. As soon as the credits rolled on the film I was hooked. I only applied to 3 colleges, seeing as there was only one for me, Savannah College of Art and Design. Luckily I found out that spring that I was accepted and the journey began!
Although I went to SCAD thinking I would make the next Toy Story, I found that I was more drawn to graphic, web and other types of design. I ended up graduating cum laude in 2004 with a degree in a vague 'Computer Art' field. Since then I've worked for a family magazine in Savannah, then moved back home in January of '06 to work for the family business, concrete construction.
I know, I know, concrete construction was no where near where I needed to be, but luckily it gave me a full time job while I pursued my other passions in a freelance setting. As a professional designer I do everything from web design to graphic design to logo design and even some stationary design. I also do a little of my own hand drawn 'word art'. Illustrating this book was really my first in illustration, but it was a fun and exciting ride that I hope I can continue in the future!
If you're interested, you can see some of my other work at my personal website, www.aviron7.com.
Thanks so much for everyone who has, is, and will be supporting this book. It means so much to Betsy and I and we appreciated every hand that touches the project!
